The Christian West and the Crisis of Identity in the Global Order

Mr Marco Rubio spoke in Munich and, as usual, said things plainly, including that the United States and Europe are Western and Christian in origin.
I fully agree.
I also say that I am Western and Christian, and I add: proudly so!
This is not about disparaging anyone.
Neither should a people be disparaged who, setting out from the Iberian Peninsula, reached Africa and Asia and later what is now America, with the Portuguese and Spanish, or Castilians, leading the way.
Nor should we forget the Vikings, who much earlier left Scandinavia and reached what is now Canada.
They were unable to maintain a permanent presence there because, among other things, they were insufficiently prepared for what today we would call logistical reasons.
Better ships, such as the carrack and the caravel, had not yet been built, which made survival difficult in an almost untouched territory with a hostile climate.
Nor should we overlook the Varangians, who shared the same origins but travelled eastwards through the Baltic Sea, northern Russia and neighbouring regions, demonstrating what they were capable of achieving.
The fashionable narrative that the supposed thinkers of a declining West, particularly in Western Europe, have sought to impose is therefore false.
Even some authorities of the Roman Catholic and Apostolic Church have partly contributed to it.
Whether one likes it or not, without that Church many, although certainly not all, of those achievements would never have been possible.
Fortunately, this has begun to change.
The change is emerging precisely from that America reached by Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci, this time from the North, through a man named Trump, despite his lights and shadows, another named Vance and a third named Rubio, to whom Americans entrusted their country.
Enough, then, of denigrating ourselves.
Enough of teaching new generations that all our ancestors were murderers.
There undoubtedly were murderers among them, but without those ancestors our countries and Africa would still be wearing loincloths and even practising human sacrifice.
Sadly, confusion reigns in the South, which is every bit as Western and Christian as everything mentioned above, if not more so.
Peru has once again changed president, who is expected to serve on an interim basis, but at least he is not a clown wearing a ridiculous tall hat.
Meanwhile, Uruguay is sending 140 individuals, including several parasites, to China, where they will eat with those two little sticks one sees in films and will naturally find them more convenient than our forks.
No comment.
Fortunately, Argentina, led by Milei, will be in the United States to participate in the Board of Peace.
Regardless of its results, we feel that someone close to us is representing us.
