Maduro es llevado detenido a la corte

VENEZUELAN CELEBRATION

The most relevant event, at least in this part of the planet, has been the capture of Nicolás Maduro by the Americans.

The official version from the authorities of the northern country claims it was the result of a military operation carried out with extraordinary precision.

They also state that the CIA and the SEALs took part in the action.

As usual, strategists immediately appear, authorized or not, offering different interpretations.

That it was a deal with the current interim president Delcy Rodríguez.

That he was handed over by a high official.

That it was orchestrated by Maduro himself as a way of surrendering without making it obvious.

We do not know, and perhaps we never will.

A wide field now opens for historians, novelists and assorted scribblers.

What we have seen, however, are the reactions.

The National Party issued a statement recognizing Maduro as a tyrant, as it always has.

At the same time, it protested the violation of international law.

The Colorado Party delivered its judgment with some nuance, but without forgetting the much mentioned international law.

The FA-PIT-CNT, clearly positioned in defense of the tyranny, denounced the violation of international law and demanded sanctions against Yankee imperialism.

In general, except for some political figures such as Dr. Lorena Quintana, everyone has acted with the political correctness to which they are accustomed.

While some tear their clothes, invoke international law and imperialism, Venezuelans who are not aligned with the regime are celebrating.

Except for the left, everyone else has considered the Venezuelan elections a fraud, and that the legitimate president should have been Edmundo González with María Corina Machado as vice president.

That is, on the one hand they condemn Maduro and on the other they condemn the way he was removed.

We applaud a surgical operation as necessary to save the patient, but we reject the scalpel that cuts him.

This implies a clear preference for demanding divine intervention.

But Providence must be helped.

If God had sent a thunderbolt like Zeus or an angel with a sword, no one would have to lament the violation of international law.

Then the blame or the merit would be attributed to God.

Who would be considered good or bad depending on the interpreter of divine will.

That would have been the perfect solution.

Those who do thank God are the Venezuelans who fill the squares to show a joy that has been held back for 27 years.

Do not go and talk to them about violated international law.

Others, who have never been in Venezuela or who benefit from the tyrannical narco-state regime or are blinded by the poison of the left, go out waving flags.

They gather in front of the US embassy displaying Venezuelan or Palestinian flags and some Uruguayan ones mixed in, demanding justice.

And they remember the empire.

Just as they did not remember it when the USSR invaded Czechoslovakia, Hungary or Poland to impose its Soviet lex.

No violation of international law, no protests, absolute silence.

The traditional parties, who come out with this double discourse of “yes, but”, do not surprise us.

It is enough to recall how they reacted when they were in opposition and the left wiped out the Expiry Law.

Popular sovereignty violated, the will of the people ignored, even according to Fernández Huidobro and the constitutional lawyer Korseniak, weeping and gnashing of teeth.

When they had the chance to repair what they had denounced as a blatant injustice, they did not do so.

We stick with the joy of the authentic Venezuelan people, for whom President Trump is a savior.

Let us hope it is so.
